City Buys Downtown Buildings
Wednesday June 26, @11:38AM, by bjg
Subject : Politics
Summary :

On April 16, Bettendorf's City Council passed resolutions authorizing purchase of the Praise Fellowship Church building (1739 State Street) and Bettendorf Autowize (1719 State Street). Negotiations between the city and Mark Jacobsen, pastor of Praise Fellowship, have commenced. As of this writing, Bettendorf Autowize has not been contacted.

Text :

Our position: If the city thinks it has enough money to buy and demolish buildings, it surely has enough money to take good care of the businesses that invested in this town.

Your fellow business people need your help now. Please call your council member, the mayor and/or the city administrator. Ask them to

  1. Give these folks low or no-cost rent till they find new locations;

  2. Help them find new locations in Bettendorf, preferably downtown, and;

  3. Help with relocation expenses.
